We’re on a mission to bring back the #BiscuitBreak.
As the home of the True Originals, here at McVitie’s we’re on a mission to bring about the return of a treasured part of British culture: the tea and #BiscuitBreak.
Since being introduced at the turn of the 19th century, a tea and #BiscuitBreak has been seen as a valuable moment in our daily lives – helping us stay happy, healthy and motivated.
Due to the busy nature of modern life – from back-to-back work meetings to trying to fit in all our everyday tasks – this beloved ritual and treasured part of British culture is in decline, as our research recently revealed.

A poll of 4,000 adults in employment found that:
93%
believe taking breaks is an important part of the day
70%
take under 15 minutes of breaks a day (outside their lunch break)
43%
take under 10 minutes of breaks a day (outside their lunch break)
36%
don’t believe their employers do enough to encourage them to take breaks
42%
feel more energised after stopping for a short break
41%
feel more motivated after stopping for a short break
38%
feel less stressed after stopping for a short break

That’s why we’re rallying the nation to reclaim a small but mighty part of the day: the #BiscuitBreak. A simple chance to connect, recharge and enjoy a moment that’s always been worth pausing for.
