Getting the Nation talking.
Mental health is connected to everything we do, every place we go, and every person around us. Together we’re fighting to make sure that no mind is left behind.

What we’re doing.
What we’re doing.
At McVitie’s, we know the power that a simple tea and biscuit break has. Whether it’s checking in on a colleague, taking the time to pick up the phone to call a friend, or simply having a moment to yourself – those 15 minutes can make a real difference. That’s why, we’re proud to be partnering with Mind to ask Brits to prioritise those moments of connection.
In our 2024 campaign, we launched an on-pack promotion in Tesco, where shoppers were able to buy a pack of McVitie’s biscuits and choose a loved one to send a free pack of biscuits to with a promise to make time, anytime. Check out the video below.

Biscuit Break with a Purpose.
Ask open questions.
Asking open, non-judgemental questions like ‘How has that been for you?’ or ‘What does that feel like?’ can give someone the space to share how they’re feeling.
Think about the time and place.
Sometimes it’s easier to talk side by side rather than face to face. You might want to chat while you’re doing something else, such as over a cuppa or on a car journey.
Really listen.
Use positive body language and say things like ‘I hear you’ or ‘I understand’ to offer empathy and show you’re really listening.
Don’t try to fix it.
Avoid jumping to solutions or giving advice. Although well-meaning, just listening can sometimes be all a person needs.
Be patient.
Not everyone will be ready to talk right away and that’s ok. Let them know you’re there when they’re ready.
Visit Mind.
Having access to the right information is vital. Visit Mind’s website for advice, support, or to find out ways that you can get involved in the fight for mental health.
